Mumbai: Western Railway collects Rs 62,000 from 5 trips on AC local train debut

Mumbai: The Western Railway collected a total revenue of Rs 62,000 on its debut journey of the air-conditioned local train between Borivali to Churchgate on Monday. The train left Borivali station to Churchgate at 10.30am.

“At least 446 tickets were booked by 579 passengers for travelling in the AC local train till 5 pm,” said Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relation Officer Western Railway. A senior Western Railway official said more than thousands people had a joyride due to which total collection for the first day was 62, 746 and one person was caught travelling without a ticket.

He further added that they received a good response and commuters were happy with this Christmas gift from the Western Railway. The first journey also saw one ticketless traveller who was fined Rs 435 by the ticket checker. The train has room for a total of 5,964 people, with the seating capacity for 1,028 and standing space for 4,936.
