Mumbai: Shiv Sena has stepped up its attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. In yet another salvo, Uddhav Thackeray, the party president of Sena accused the government of cheating the farmers of the ‘historical’ loan waiver scheme.
In a public rally at Beed on Wednesday, Uddhav exposed the false claims of the government and called upon a farmer, Balasaheb Haribhau Solunke, who had brought along the loan waiver certificate given by Maharashtra government. Solunke then showed the loan waiver certificate given to him by ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal, handled by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The certificate states Solunke has been given the amount under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana, as the government waived his loan amount of Rs 98,925, which he had borrowed from State Bank of India, Dharur branch, in Beed district.
Uddhav asked Solunke, “Did you get the benefit of loan waiver?”. He replied, “No.” Then, while looking at the farmers, Uddhav asked, how many farmers got the benefit of the loan waiver scheme?. “If you really got the benefit, please raise your hands. I will be happy, if it is,” said Uddhav. In response, nobody raises their hands.
Again he asked, how many farmers have paid premium towards crop insurance loan and what amount they have paid?” Farmers shouted Rs 10,000 and in a reply to a question whether they received amount of insurance, they nodded their heads as no.
Uddhav, then stepped up a sharp attack directed to the Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis. Udhav said, “The government is distributing fake certificates and claiming huge amounts are being spent on the loan waiver scheme. With such evidence which we have publicly exposed.
I am being accused by the government as their opponent, but I promise you I will follow the path of truth.”Shiv Sena supremo late Balasaheb Thackeray taught us not to speak lies. Humanity is more important for me than the power. Now you have to decide what to do (with the BJP) in elections,” said Uddhav.
