Bhayandar: The Thane (rural) police have arrested two men on charges of outraging modesty, rape and blackmailing a 16-year-old college girl after luring her to a lodge in Gorai on the pretext of offering her roles in Hindi films.
According to police, the Std XI student (name withheld) stated she came into contact with an accused, Shamshad Ashfak Khan (21), after he ferried her to and fro to college in his auto-rickshaw several times in the past couple of months.
However, the aggrieved severed ties with him after he tried to misbehave with her. A spurned Khan decided to avenge it and gave her phone number to his accomplice, Danish Mohammed Ansari (28). Danish, a mechanic at a local garage, established contact with the girl and boasted his influential contacts, offering help to bag a film.
On April 9, he accosted her to a hotel room under the guise of an audition where he violated her after sedating her food with sedatives. He made videos of the crime, which he intended to use for blackmail. The horrified girl narrated her plights to her parents who registered a complaint at the Navghar police station.
“A case under sections 376 and 354 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, (POCSO) has been registered against the duo who have been remanded in police custody till April 26,” confirmed Senior Inspector Ram E Bhalsing.
