Samta Nagar Police arrested two of the three accused, red handed, who broke into a temple at night and then decamped with valuables worth close to ₹2 lakh in Kandivali (E) on Thursday. The accused were caught by a night patrolling team on Thursday, where the third accused managed to escape before he could be caught by the police. A case of house break in, trespassing and common intention has been registered at Samta Nagar police station.
A police patrolling van was on duty on Thursday night, when they saw three men moving suspiciously in a taxi. Upon finding something amiss, the police team intercepted the vehicle, one of the men in the four wheeler fled, raising an alarm and police immediately got hold of the other two accused-- Vijay Shaikh and Tayyab Shaikh.
Upon interrogating the two accused, it was revealed that they had broken into a Hanuman Temple on Akurli Road in Kandivali (E), wherein they had used the tools procured for the break in and decamped with a donation box that contained ₹2 lakh in cash, said senior inspector Anand Rao Hake of Samta Nagar police station. Meanwhile, police are on the lookout for their accomplice-- Shailendra Mishra.
