TV actor Pracheen Chauhan was arrested on Friday by the Kurar Police for allegedly molesting a 22-year-old woman. According to the complainant, Chauhan allegedly touched her inappropriately in an inebriated state. He was subsequently booked and arrested for the relevant charges under the Indian Penal Code. The actor was, however, granted bail in a Borivali Court when he was produced on Saturday.
According to police sources, the actor, who had played the role of Subroto Basu in 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay', was accused of inappropriately touching a woman at a party hosted by him at his residence on June 30. In her complaint, the woman had claimed that Chauhan had invited her and a friend to his residence, and after a few drinks, he touched her inappropriately in an inebriated state, said Prakash Bele, senior inspector of Kurar police station.
Acting on the complaint, the actor, who has acted in several TV serials, including Ssshhhh... Koi Hai, Kyun Hota Hai Pyarr, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Sindoor Tere Naam Ka, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Laal Ishq, was subsequently arrested for molestation, wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt late on Friday night.
Police said that the actor was produced before a local magistrate court on Saturday and was granted bail.
