For the second consecutive day, traffic congestion and snarls were witnessed at the entry-exit points of the city on Wednesday. The areas that were most affected were the Western Express Highway (WEH), Eastern Express Highway (EEH) and the Vashi toll naka.

A senior traffic police official said that amid new notifications from the state government in connection to the relaxation for shops, among other things, many motorists had stepped out, leading to traffic snarl. The Anand Nagar toll naka near Mulund witnessed heavy congestion, which resulted in bumper-to-bumper traffic. A similar scene was reported at various nakabandi places along the WEH and EEH.

A major jam was reported at Dahisar check naka as motorists were stranded for up to 65 minutes. Most of the snarls were observed on the south-bound arm of WEH and EEH.

Many motorists took to Twitter to complain about the situation.

On Wednesday, Garfield Soares, mentioned on his Twitter handle, “@mumbaitraffic @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice, What is the reason for nakabandi at #Dahisarchecknaka everyday creating unnecessary traffic jams? It is taking 3 hours to cover 09 kms!!! What a waste of public time and money!!!"

Another Twitter user said, “@mumbaitraffic Crazy jam right from Mira Road till Borivali stuck near Mira Road Delta for the past 1 hour. It’s crazy is this lockdown and nakabandi new means to trouble the already suffering people. Is this on purpose what good is this serving." Taking a satirical take on the traffic, Ashish Solanki, posted on Twitter, "Ridiculous jam on WEH. Seems like pandemic is over for mumbaikars. #traffic #mumbai #lockdown”
