Mumbai: Thieves posing as beggars on prowl in Bhayandar

A gang of thieves including women posing as beggars are on the prowl in the twin-city. Two female members of the gang targeted an office in the Navghar Road area of Bhayandar (east) on Wednesday morning. The theft was reported from the office of the complainant- Ketan Baria who deals in fire safety products in the Amrut Industrial area of Navghar Road in Bhayandar (east).

Notably, the employees were sleeping in the office when the theft took place. Finding the door, a woman sneaked into the office and fled with cash, mobile phone and gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.55 lakh. While the woman was committing the theft, her accomplice posing as a beggar was keeping watch with a begging bowl in her hand outside the office premises.

The entire sequence of events has been captured by the CCTV camera installed in the office. Both the women are seen escaping in an auto rickshaw. A case under section 380 of the IPC has been registered at the Navghar police station against both the unidentified women. The police have intensified vigil in the area.
