Days after his request to the prime minister to provide necessary clearances, CM Uddhav Thackeray, on Thursday, asked the administration to take locals into confidence for the development of a bulk drug park in coastal Raigad district. The proposed bulk drug park will have a potential to supply drugs across the country. Besides, there will be creation of 75,000 jobs.
Uddhav, at the meeting, directed the administration that the sons of the soil should be provided employment in the bulk drug park. The locals should be trained in skill development so that they would get jobs.
Uddhav said that the project should be planned in consultation with the locals by conducting a survey on the actual land, protection of horticulture wherever possible and a comprehensive plan for the best remuneration of the locals. Industry minister Subhash Desai said the department will pursue with the Centre for an early development of the bulk drug park. “In addition to the compensation towards land acquisition, 10% developed land will be provided for project affected people (PAPs). The plot can be used for commercial, industrial and residential use. Therefore, it will be possible to rent out industrial / business as well as residential flats and generate permanent income by the project affected people. A skill development centre will be set up for the skill development of the locals,” he said.
