Students and degree colleges are awaiting assessment policy for Class 12 board as it will decide the criteria for entrance exams and admissions to major Undergraduate (UG) courses. Dates for Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET), a major competitive exam for admissions to professional courses, has not been decided yet.

Degree colleges said the academic year might get delayed this time as admissions to UG courses usually begin by mid-June. The principal of a Matunga college said, "Various competitive tests such as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), State Common Entrance Test (CET) have been delayed this year. Also, the assessment criteria for Class 12 board students will decide the admission process for UG courses."

Gunjan Chawla, a professor said, "Every year, degree college admission process begins by mid-June and the academic year begins from July-August. But this year, if results are delayed the entire academic year will get pushed further."

Students said Class 12 results will determine their admission process for higher education. Tulejit Sakpal, a Class 12 student said, "I hope our results are declared soon because I do not want to waste another academic year facing delays and deferments." Anamika Dhule, another student said, "I am waiting for the education department to declare dates of State CET so that I can start preparing for the same."

The state school education department is yet to announce the criterion to declare results of Class 12 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board students and the date of result declaration. A decision regarding dates of Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) is expected too.
