Mumbai: Students studying Law courses in the Mumbai University (MU) have received their results of five examinations. Also, students of all courses do not need to wait for a month but can now get their passing certificates online.

In order to study abroad or apply for jobs, students often require a passing certificate which serves as a valid proof of education. Till now, students had to apply to the MU for these certificates offline. Then they had to scan and send it to the immigration offices or employment companies. This process would take over a month which would delay their admission process.

The management council on Thursday passed the decision to provide passing certificates online to students. Suhas Pednekar, Vice- Chancellor (VC) of MU, said, “We have decided to provide transcripts of passing certificates online so that students do not have to wait for a month for their process.

We wish to make all university processes easy for students. They can now avail these certificates online from their homes and do not need to come to the university campus.”

These certificates serve as proof of education which is a mandatory requirement while applying for a Student Visa. Mantra Roy, a student, said, “Till now, along with our marksheets we had to provide additional proof of education to the visa offices. And these certificates would take time, but now we are glad that we can apply for the same online and secure it faster.”

In addition, students of Law courses have finally received their results of five semesters. Danish Kiran, a student, said, “I was waiting for my results for over two months. The results of Law faculty are always delayed due to lack of number of teachers to complete online assessment.”

A senior officer of MU said, “Most of the teachers of Law course are practicing lawyers so they do not find sufficient time to complete paper correction.” The university declared results of Semester 1, 5, 6, 9 and 10.
