Mumbaikars brace yourself, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has planned to make one-way traffic movement on several roads connecting several blocks inside BKC in order to streamline traffic movement.
According to DNA, the pilot project will be first taken up in G Block of BKC, and later after having feedback on the same, roads connecting other blocks will also be made one way. This pilot project will be kicked-off in next three to four weeks in the G block of the BKC, which houses Bharat Diamond Bourse, a couple of five-star hotels, the office of the Security and Exchange Board of India along with the Mumbai Cricket Association.
An MMRDA official told the leading daily, “Once the pilot project takes off, traffic will be diverted with the help of traffic wardens and later it will be monitored with CCTV cameras. We have got approval for the project from MMRDA Chairman, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.” In the pilot project, in G block several right turns will be restricted towards Kurla while exiting out of the G Block resulting in motorists having to take a left turn towards Bandra, later take U-turn in order to head towards Kurla from G Block.
