There was a time when the Western Railway announcement in trains was about which is the next station and what is the train destination. Next, WR started accepting ads too and we could hear commercials being played out through the speakers.
WR has now gone one step ahead. These days, they are promoting a serial named Hamari Bahu Silk. The ads being played out in the trains on a constant basis has a titillating voice mouthing the famous lines from a Shah Rukh Khan's super hit film -- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Rahul, Tum Nahi Samjhoge.
The sensuous rendition has led to varied reactions from commuters -- some surprised, some embarrassment giving a sheepish smile and some family members not knowing where to look.
Hamari Bahu Silk, airing on Zee TV, is the story of a young girl Pakhi, who takes up the job of a voice-over artist for sensuous films to support her family. The show deals with how the girl from traditional background has to face acceptance issues due to her offbeat career choice.
While the concept of the show is novel and commendable, whether the regular Mumbai train commuters are mature enough to take the campaign in right spirit is debatable.
