Mumbai Rains: Water level in Mumbai’s seven lakes slightly drops to 97.95%

Water levels in seven lakes, which provide water to the city, witnessed a slight drop on Thursday morning. The water levels dropped from 98.17 percent on Tuesday to 97.95 percent on Thursday morning.

According to data shared by BMC, the seven lakes have 14,17,745 million litres of water or 97.95% as recorded on Thursday, against the full capacity, which is around 14.47 lakh million litres.

Last year, during the same time, water stock was at 98.49% with 14,25,579 million litres, while in 2018 the water stock was 95.04% with 13,75,544 million litres.

At Upper Vaitarna, 99.36% of water stock is available, Modak Sagar has 92.19%, Tansa has 98.85%, Middle Vaitarna 96.86%, Bhatsa 98.58%, Vihar 99.34% and Tulsi has 99.66% of useful water level.

The IMD forecast said widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls "very likely" over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala during the next three to four days.

Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are very likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Marathwada and north Interior Karnataka on September 15 and over Madhya Maharashtra on September 16, it said.
