Central Railway on Friday pushed the blame towards implementing the Sunday timetable on Wednesday to IMD citing their wrong forecast of rains.
Divisional General Manager S K Jain said that the decision to implement the Sunday timetable with reduced services was an informed one based on the IMD forecast of heavy rains over the city. Although he took the responsibility of not communicating with the commuters on time about the situation on the tracks.
“It is our fault that we do not have a 24×7 communication system and that we could be in touch with commuters who were stuck in trains at 18 different locations, for which we are going to use social media like Twitter and Facebook like Western Railways,” he said to The Indian Express.
Notably, on July 1 and July 2, CR services were shut for more than 16 hours with more than 18 trains carrying thousands of commuters, strangled at different locations of the city.
