There might a little relief from summer heat this year for Western Railway commuters, as the railways are planning to introduce the second AC local by March-end.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the second AC local will not need a trial run as it will be a replica of the one which is already running between Churchgate and Virar. Ravinder Bhakar, chief PRO of WR told the leading daily, “We have been informed by the ICF that the new AC local will come by March-end. As it is of the same make as the existing one, it will not require any trials.”

This second AC local will have minor changes in door-closing, air-conditioning and will have Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited electricals fittings inside. The Mumbai suburban railways are also waiting for other AC rake which has been designed on the lines of Train 18, which was to be introduced in February. This AC rake has been delayed, this rack is currently under construction at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, which is likely to reach Mumbai after June.
