Mumbai: The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 11, launched a two-day special operation against drug-related activities, resulting in the seizure of narcotics worth Rs 4.5 lakh and the detention of four drug smugglers.
Additionally, cases were registered against 21 individuals for drug consumption. This special drive, led by Zone 11 DCP Anand Bhoite, was conducted on Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, June 1. Officers from various police stations within the zone participated in the operation.
According to the police, during patrols, a woman was arrested within the jurisdiction of MHB Police Station. Police seized 53 grams of Mephedrone (MD) valued at Rs 4.24 lakh from her.
Simultaneously, raids were carried out across areas under the Malvani, Goregaon, Charkop, and MHB police stations, during which 993 grams of ganja worth Rs 27,000 were seized and four more individuals were arrested.
In total, 21 individuals were booked for drug consumption during raids conducted in areas including Malvani, Charkop, Malad, Bangur Nagar, MHB Colony, Borivali, and Kandivali.
Police have stated that similar operations will continue in the future to deter drug trafficking and usage. Plainclothes patrol teams have also been deployed around schools and colleges to monitor suspicious activity.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Zone 11 DCP Anand Bhoite and involved Senior Police Inspectors Sandeep Vishwasrao (Goregaon), Shailendra Nagarkar (Malvani), Ganesh Pawar (MHB), and Vinayak Chavan (Charkop).
With the rising rate of drug smuggling in the city, Mumbai Police and the Narcotics Department have intensified their efforts to combat the issue. A helpline has been launched for citizens to report drug-related complaints. Mumbai Police has appealed to the public to report any drug-related activity via WhatsApp at 8796754029.
