Mumbai: A police sub-inspector (PSI) attached to the dog squad of crime branch police was arrested for inappropriately touching and stalking a junior female constable of the same unit on Monday. Azad Maidan Police arrested PSI Vinod Ballad (38), on Monday evening after his subordinate complained about his inappropriate acts.
According to police, after twelve female dog handlers were appointed to the crime branch’s special dog squad, Ballad allegedly grew close to the complainant.
Soon Ballad started getting too personal with the complainant, she warned him to stay away, but Ballad did not back down. The complainant said, when she stopped entertaining Ballad, he began inappropriately touching her, repeatedly calling her and subsequently stalking her.
Police said, the complainant approached Azad Maidan Police and registered a complaint against Ballad on Monday. A case was registered against Ballad for demanding sexual advances (354A) and stalking (354D) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Ballad was arrested and was produced in a local magistrate court and was remanded in police custody for five days. Police are investigating the matter further.
