Talking to the media persons on Tuesday, Ahmed Javed, Commissioner of Police said, “The Mumbai Police and the Traffic police will both have their own accounts of various social networking sites. We will be uploading latest news, updates and announcements on the page. Citizens can also inform us of any incident using the same.”  When asked if he also would have a Twitter account, he said, he is considering having an account. The Commissioner who took charge on September 8, has plans to look at various issues plaguing the city. “We will be looking at weeding out interdepartmental corruption and also incidents of alleged moral policing by policemen. We don’t just want the police department to deliver quick services, but also be professional and disciplined, “he said.

While answering a question on ensuring safety of women and children, Javed said that it is one of the top priorities for the department. “We are looking at improving help lines for women and considering having a single number helpline which can make it easier to reach out to the police when in distress. In addition to that we have already started visiting schools to inform students about good touch and bad touch and create awareness about sexual assaults,” he added.
