Mumbai: Platform for amateur film makers to showcase talent

Mumbai: Frames festival, an annual fest conducted by the BMM department of SIES College, Nerul will be held from January 10-12. This 16th edition, sponsored by The Free Press Journal is India’s largest undergraduate film festival which gives amateur film makers a platform to portray their vision to film lovers.

Frames gets a footfall of nearly 3,000 people and receives more than 4,500 entries from across the globe, with prominent film institutes like FTII (Pune), London Film Academy and New York Film Academy. This year’s theme, DIRECTOR’S CUT: AN ODE TO THE MAKERS is a salute to prominent directors in the film industry.

BMM department also undertook a CSR initiative in Nere High School, Panvel, where underprivileged kids were shown animated movies to hone their interest towards movies. They also hosted a pre-event, MEHFILM, where Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was screened under a star lit sky in the college premises.

There are seven categories for film submissions :- National Short Films, International Short Films, Ad Films, Music videos, Animation Films, Documentaries and Contingent Films. All the above mentioned categories are judged by prominent people from the film industry.

Among some of prominent personalities attending the three-day fest are, Kavita Seth a renowned singer and Sanjay Gupta, a gifted producer and screenwriter. Among other celebrities who will attend the festival are Tanuj Virvani, who is a proclaimed actor known for Luv U Soniyo and Purani Jeans and Rakesh Bedi who is famous for his comedy roles in films like Chashme Buddoor and in TV series like Yes Boss. A panel discussion called the Insight, powered by Film Companion, will be held on the topic ‘Society in motion’.
