Mumbai: A 21-year-old physiotherapy student from Dadar, committed suicide by jumping from his building terrace in the early hours of Monday morning. The student, Omkar Thakur, was studying in KEM hospital, and was in the last year of his course.

Shivaji Park Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and have not found any suicide note but said Omkar must have committed suicide due to exam pressure.

Omkar, a resident of Kohinoor Tower, Dadar, jumped from the terrace of his building at around 3.30am on Monday, he was taken to the Sion Hospital where he was declared dead even before admission.

Reportedly, Omkar was pursuing a physiotherapy course from KEM hospital and he was in his last year of degree. Presently, his exams were going on and he had already completed two papers while two papers were still remaining.

According to the Shivaji Park Police, “Omkar had told his family that the third paper was tough and he would study early the next morning. In the morning, this is what happened. It seems that due to exam stress he has committed the suicide,” said the officer on the request of anonymity.

“The family so far has not raised any doubts,” added an officer.“Omkar was a bright student and we are shocked to hear that he has committed suicide, may be he was under exam stress,” said a student from the same class.

“Omkar’s father is an engineer with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), while his sister is also a doctor who practises in a foreign country,” said the officials from the Shivaji Park Police station.
