Mumbai: A six-year-old boy was crushed to death under the parking stack of a building at 11am on Wednesday. Kandivli police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and are likely to book the negligent party. According to police sources, two children were playing in the compound of Veena Santoor building in Borivli (W), when one of the parking stacks installed in the building compound fell on a six-year-old boy.

Police said just minutes ago, a Wagon-R was lifted and parked, which the children witnessed. After it was parked, the children began playing below the ramp, when it suddenly crashed, with the car on it. While one boy sustained injuries, the six-year-old was trapped beneath it.

The watchman alerted other residents, who tried to lift the ramp and extricate the child, but in vain, said a resident. Finally, the car owner was summoned, who moved his vehicle, after which the ramp could be lifted and the victim was pulled out. He was then rushed to a private hospital in Borivli (W), where he was declared dead before admission, said police.

“We have registered an ADR as a primary procedure and will register a case of causing death due to negligence after a detailed investigation. The residents, maintenance team and the security guard are being questioned,” said Nitin Pondkule, a senior inspector of Kandivli police station. A case will be registered on the basis of the statements recorded and the evidence found, said Pondkule.
