Not only highrises or plush societies, vaccination drives have also been conducted for tribals by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC). The authorities on Friday will begin an independent vaccination centre at Yeoor Hills in Thane.

The vaccination centre will start on June 4 and more than 250 families will be vaccinated. The tribals are hardly connected to the city.

“As the tribals are not educated and are not well versed in using smartphones or computers, they do not know how to get registered for the vaccination. Our aim is to vaccinate each and every citizen of the city. As their safety is our concern. So we will begin a vaccination centre for tribals,” said an official from TMC.

Confirming this move, public relation officer and deputy municipal commissioner, TMC, Sandeep Malvi, said, “On June 4, the vaccination of tribals will begin from 11am to 4pm at the health centre, near Patilwadi municipal school in Yeoor. We will ensure that all are vaccinated.”

This was possible due to the efforts of Dr. Vipin Sharma, municipal commissioner, TMC and Naresh Mhaske, Mayor, Thane. “The tribals are hardly connected to the city and would avoid coming for vaccination to the centre in the city. So, we have arranged for a vaccination centre at their location,” said Mhaske.
