The northbound arm of the New Link Road, between Indian Oil Junction and Chitrakoot Junction at Andheri (W) will be closed for all vehicular and pedestrian movement till August 30, said a traffic notification. The traffic restriction has been put in place for the erection of precast elements (pillar) of the D N Nagar Metro station.
A traffic police official said that in order to prevent danger, obstruction and inconvenience to the public for the erection of the precast elements of DN Nagar metro station, the traffic restriction of the road closure at the patch on New Link Road was announced. "Traffic restrictions were made for smooth movement of vehicular traffic between Indian Oil Junction to Chitrakoot Junction on New Link Road for two months," said Somnath Gharge, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Western Suburban.
To ensure smooth vehicular movement, traffic police have also suggested alternate routes for motorists, wherein from Indian Oil Junction, one can go to Four Bungalow Junction from Jay Prakash Road to Achutrao Patwardhan Road and then move towards RTO Road to reach the Chitrakoot Junction on New Link Road.
Another alternate route would be to from Indian Oil Junction to Jay Prakash Road, move towards Azad Nagar Metro Station, leading to the route of Andheri Sports Complex-Veera Desai Road-Courtyard Junction-Dattaji Salvi Road to finally get on the Chitrakoot Junction on New Link Road.
The traffic restriction was put in place on July 1 and will be in force till August 30.
