As many as 7,26,588 were administered Covid vaccine in the state on Saturday. According to the addition chief secretary of the public health department Dr. Pradeep Vyas, this is the highest number ever reported in a state. The cumulative vaccination has been 3,09,79,469.
More than one lakh were vaccinated at 390 Covid centres across Mumbai on Saturday. According to BMC data, 1,54,226 were administered the vaccine, of which 1,06,780 were between 18 to 44 years of age. Around 20 lactating mothers and 27 international students/professionals got the jab. Also, eight physically and mentally challenged across all age groups got the jab.
A senior health official said the pace of vaccination should be increased. “They should vaccinate the maximum of the population at the earliest. The government should make it compulsory for all to get vaccinated,” said the official. However, he said that vaccination does not guarantee that a person will not get Covid. “We have seen that such people get mild symptoms and are manageable,” he said.
