Mumbai: Monorail strikes it rich, marks rise in revenue, ridership

Mumbai: The ongoing Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) staffers’ strike has infused fresh footfall into Mumbai Monorail’s Phase-1 (Wadala-Chembur) service. According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), on January 8, 9 and 10, 72,249 passengers travelled by monorail, bringing in an additional Rs 1,93,644 in revenue, as compared to the 41,954 who used the service on January 5, 6 and 7, 2019, with revenue collection being Rs 2,93,416.
