Mumbai: Fire broke out at a mobile shop outside Ghatkopar railway station (W) on Friday afternoon, around 2.30 pm. No casualties were reported in this incident.
The incident occurred when the owner Amber Chheda and six employees were in the store. Reportedly, suddenly a fire broke out due to a short circuit and the room was filled with smoke. The owner and staff ran out of the store and switched off the mains in the electric cabin. But the fire had spread by then and caused the air conditioner to explode.
We were not able to get in the store again as the room was filled with smoke and the fire brigade only reached after an hour. When we entered the store afterwards, we saw everything had turned to ashes. The air conditioner, TV, computer, furniture, our stock of new mobiles have all been destroyed,” said the owner Amar Chheda, estimating the value of the goods to be about Rs 15-20 lakh.
