Mumbai: For many years, quadriplegic Bhavesh Trivedi has been running under disabled category in Tata Mumbai Marathon and also been associated with causes. Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Wheelchair Rugby Federation of India, member, Trivedi, said, “I wanted to create awareness among the other quadriplegic people that they should not be discouraged. But go ahead with their lives.” He went on to add that doctor’s word is not the last word but your courage to fight all odds. “
After my accident, the doctor who was treating me lost all hope. After few years, when I feel ill again they did not have a positive view about my health. This led me to loss trust in doctors. My advice to other quadriplegic people will be rely less on doctors and more on their inner strength.” He adds, now he goes to doctors only if there is any emergency.
Trivedi was wheelchair bounded after he met with an accident, but he did not lost hope. “At that time, my friends and family did not let me be and now I am here participating in the run.” Recalling his experience with physiotherapists, he said they were determined to get me up and moving and they managed to achieve it. He also takes pride in the fact that he is a consultant who works from home.
