Mumbai: Man on the run for 9 years held

A man, who was on the run for nine years after jumping parole in 2012, has been held in Kandivali East. The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder charges in 1999. He was granted parole for 30 days in 2012, but failed to return after the designated time, following which he was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code in 2013. The man, Ashwin Sapkale, was living under a false identity. The Crime branch unit 12 apprehended him after receiving a tip-off.
