Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths in an operation on Tuesday nabbed a person allegedly involved in drug trafficking and seized Mephedrone from his possession. The agency is on a lookout for another person in the said case. The agency officials said that the arrested accused has revealed during questioning that the prime suspect in the case had roped in at least 40 to 45 youngsters, mostly teenagers to peddle drugs for either money or drugs.
According to the NCB, on the basis of reliable information, a team of NCB Mumbai Unit intercepted one person identified as Sohail Shaikh (20) and recovered 55 grams of Mephedrone in his personal search at Veera Desai Industrial Estate Road, Andheri (W), Mumbai.
"On disclosure of Sohail Shaikh, a team of NCB Mumbai raided the house of one Mohammed Firoj Maula Shaikh at Lokhandwala, Andheri (W) on late Monday night and recovered 102 grams of Mephedrone and cash Rs 1.43 lakh. As per Sohail Shaikh, Firoj is the main supplier of Mephedrone in Veera Desai Road. Sohail further claimed that Firoj has roped in at least 40-45 youngsters in his syndicate to peddle drugs for him. In return he give either money or drugs to those youths. Sohail claimed he would peddle contraband for Firoj for his own consumption of drugs," said Zonal Director of NCB, Mumbai Sameer Wankhede.
"We have registered a case in the matter and are on the lookout for Firoj who managed to escape just before the raid was conducted at his place. Once he is apprehended, we will get more information about his network, source of drugs and clientele," Wankhede said.
