Mumbai: A 32-year-old man was arrested late on Monday after he inappropriately touched a teenage girl while she was boarding a train at Dadar station. The accused, Om Hari Singh, has been booked under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police said the incident occurred at Dadar railway station around 9 pm on Monday, when the teenager and her friend were boarding a train from platform no. 1 when Singh touched her inappropriately from behind. Singh then got in the same compartment.

The teenager complained to her male friend about the incident. She spotted the accused and then questioned Singh about his behaviour. The teenager and her friend tried to get off the train with Singh to go to the police, but he refused. However, after two attempts at Kurla and Ghatkopar, the duo managed to get him off the train at Mulund and took him to the police
station.

A police officer said on request of confidentiality, “Since the incident occurred at Dadar, we took Singh to Dadar from Mulund and registered a case at Dadar GRP. Singh was booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and was arrested there. ”Singh was produced before a railway court on Tuesday and sent to police custody.
