Mumbai: One labourer died and another sustained injuries after a wooden loft collapsed at an under-construction building in Kandivali (W) on Sunday. The work was conducted under the slum rehabilitation scheme. The accident spot is under SRA construction building at Lalji Pada area.
On Sunday morning, when the labourers were coming down from the structure, the loft broke and collapsed, while killing one labourer, Ramesh Ming (18), while another, Sumit Lakda (28) sustained injuries. Both were rushed to a civic-run hospital, where Ming was declared dead before admission and Lakda was kept under observation.
The Kandivali police have registered a case of negligence under section for causing death due to negligence (Section 304A) and causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others (Section 338) of the Indian Penal Code. “We have book the contractor of M/s Leela Infrastructures and other concerned people for negligence,” said senior inspector Nitin Pondkule of Kandivali police station.
