Bhujbal-led outfit, others stage rasta-roko over OBC political quota
Akhil Bharatiya Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad, an organization led by Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal, and other outfits on Thursday staged `rasta roko' (road blockade) agitation in Nashik and elsewhere against cancellation of the OBC quota in local body elections in the state.

Maharashtra on Thursday reported 9,830 fresh COVID-19 cases and 236 fatalities and also added 400 old deaths, taking its infection tally to 59,44,710 and the toll to 1,16,026, said the state health department.

Mumbai reported 666 new COVID-19 cases on June 17, Thursday, taking the total tally to 7,19,179. Now, there are 14,807 active cases in the city.
City recorded 20 deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday which pushed its fatality count to 15,247 as per data released by the city's civic body. 1300 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged on Monday, taking the recovery count to 6,86,125.

Maha: Woman, paramour held for killing her husband in ThaneÂ
A woman and her paramour have been arrested along with one more person at Dombivli in Thane district of Maharashtra for allegedly killing her husband, police said on Friday.
They were arrested by the Kalyan crime branch unit of Thane police.
"On June 4, a report had been filed at Manpada police station about one Pravin Patil (30) going missing from Manpadagaon in Dombivli," senior inspector of Kalyan crime unit, Sanju John, said.

COVID-19: Over half crore people in Maha fully vaccinated in five months
More than half a crore people in Maharashtra have become fully vaccinated against coronavirus over the last five months as they have been administered both the doses of vaccines, a report by the state health department has revealed. A total of 53,72,219 people have got both the doses till now, it said.
As per the Election Commission of India's data shared ahead of 2019 Assembly polls, there are a total of nine crore people in Maharashtra who are above 18 years of age. Considering that, the state has been able to vaccinate slightly over five per cent population in the last five months.
