Maharashtra reports 9,771 new COVID-19 cases, 141 deaths; 10,353 recover
Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 9,771 new cases of COVID-19, taking the tally to 60,61,404, while the death toll rose to 1,21,945 after 141 patients succumbed to the infection, according to a health department official.
The state reported about 1,700 more cases, but 90 less fatalities as compared to Tuesday, when the new infections stood at 8,085 and the deaths at 231.
The official said as many as 10,353 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, pushing the number of recovered cases to 58,19,901.
The state now has 1,16,364 active COVID-19 cases.

Mumbai: 692 Covid-19 cases recorded in the last 24 hrs in city
The city recorded 692 fresh Covid cases on Wednesday, taking the cumulative tally to 7,22,218. The financial capital also recorded 25 deaths due to Covid in the last 24 hours. With this, the fatality count stands at 15,451 as BMC data.
A total of 680 patients recovered and were discharged from various Covid care centres and hospitals on Wednesday, taking the recovery count to 6,6,105. With this, the recovery rate of the city continues to remain at 96%. Currently, there are only 8351 active cases.
Congress leader backs Sanjay Raut; says, 'No differences in Thackeray-PM Modi friendship'
Backing Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's statement, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and Congress leader Aslam Shaikh on Wednesday said there are no differences in friendship between Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"I do not understand that what is wrong with this comment. Why media always speaks like this in all non-BJP states. If a chief minister has a good relation with Prime Minister, then there is nothing wrong with it. The Chief Minister had 20 years of alliance with the BJP. They may be separate today but there are no differences in their friendship," Shaikh told reporters.
Maha BJP MLC says his car was attacked with stone in Solapur
Maharashtra BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar claimed that his vehicle was attacked with a big stone in Solapur on Wednesday evening.
He said his car's windscreen was damaged in the incident, but nobody from the vehicle suffered any injury.
Earlier in the day, Padalkar had criticised NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
