Former Congress Minister Kripashankar Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Singh joined the BJP in the presence of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and party state president Chandrakant Patil at state party headquarters in Mumbai.

Bombay HC issues notices to Centre, Maharashtra over PIL claiming Truecaller breached data privacy norms

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Union and Maharashtra governments, among others, over a public interest litigation (PIL) claiming that the Truecaller mobile application "shared" user data breaching legal norms of the country.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni was hearing a PIL filed by one Shashank Posture.

"The Truecaller app collects data of all users. It shares such data with some of its partners without the consent of users, and dumps the liability on the user," the petitioner told the court.

664 COVID-19 cases, nine deaths reported in city

Mumbai recorded 664 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths on Wednesday which took the city's caseload to 7,26,284 and death toll to 15,573, the civic body said.

The city had reported 489 and 453 new infections on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
