COVID-19 in Maharashtra: Decision on extending lockdown tomorrow, says health minister Rajesh Tope
Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday informed that the decision on extending lockdown in the state will be taken in the CM Uddhav Thackeray's review meeting slated to be held tomorrow.
He informed that the decision on extending the lockdown beyond May 15 up to May 31 will be notified after the meeting.

Amid the shortage of COVID-19 vaccine in the state, the Maharashtra government will now vaccinate only people above 45 years of age, informed state Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday.
This means that there will be no vaccination for the 18-44 age group till further notice. Tope said that a discussion is going on with CM Uddhav Thackeray to procure more vaccines. Speaking to NDTV, he said that the govt is slowing the process of vaccination for the 18-44 age group as there is a shortage of vaccines. "We don't want to stop, but right now we have no vaccines, so we will be giving vaccines right now to 45+ only," Tope said.
Maharashtra government on Tuesday had decided to divert three lakh vials of Covaxin meant for the 18-44 age group for the use of the people aged 45 years and above.
Sigh of relief: Mumbai records 51 COVID-19 deaths, lowest since April 15; 1,717 new cases
Mumbaikars in the past few days heaved sigh of relief as COVID-19 cases in the city have dipped significantly, although there is a long way to go to be virus free.
Continuing the trend, Mumbai on Tuesday (May 11) recorded 1,717 new Covid-19 cases while 6,082 patients were discharged.
The city has witnessed the lowest single-day spike in the cases since March 30. Last, on March 15, the city had reported 1,712 cases after which the city reported the lowest number of cases today after seeing a massive spike.
In some slightly better news, the city's deaths seems to have dipped too. On Tuesday, the city recorded 51 deaths, lowest since April 15.
