Mumbai: A week after Kamala Mills fire tragedy the bereaved families of deceased demand immediate arrest of all the three accused who have not been arrested till now. On Friday evening the families gathered at Kamala Mills compound where they sloganeered together saying: ‘We want justice.’
Mumbai police have still not got any breakthrough in the case except for arresting the two managers of 1Above pub where the fire broke out, engulfed adjacent buildings and killed 14 people besides injuring several others. Till now the police have arrested only two managers of the pub.
“Why managers have been arrested? It is all cover up. Why the prime accused have not been arrested till now? I dont know what police department is doing. We are surprised why the restaurant managers have been arrested. It is not their fault. The main culprits are roaming scot free and police are incapable to arrest them,” said one of the bereaved families. Another family accused top government officials of committing white collar crimes which often cause common man to suffer.
“Dont we deserve to live a safe life? Why are we paying tax to the government if they fail to provide a safe environment? We want to know the names of officers who take money and allows these restaurants to flout the rules. Rots are from tops. I will not be surprised at all if after three months this structure is rebuilt and the restaurant be made functional,” said a middle aged man, who lost his close relative in the Kamala Mills fire tragedy.
“My bhabhi and niece had gone to dine in the restaurant. After the fire broke out, my niece managed to escape but my bhabhi remained trapped. She was continuously talking to her daughter for 20 minutes. We informed fire brigade officials that my bhabhi is trapped in the fire, is alive and talking to us on phone but they did not pay heed to us. My bhabhi was talking to her daughter on phone and after 20 minutes she collapsed and her phone was switched off. The fire brigade officials brought her body after 3 hours,” he said.
