Mumbai: An advocate of the Bombay High court has submitted a letter to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to conduct a thorough inquiry in the fire at Kamala Mills Compound.
As per the letter to the NHRC by Dipak Chattopadhyay, “It is sad that 14 innocent persons have lost their lives and 55 persons were injured due to negligence of authorities. It is a violation of human rights. There is no proper safety measure at 1Above and Mojo Bistro pub. The NHRC should conduct a detailed inquiry about the fire incident and take further necessary action.”
Speaking to the Free Press Journal, Chattopadhyay said, “The gross violation of fire safety rules by the owners of both the pubs led to the incident. Strict action should be taken against the owners of the pubs, the corrupt Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials and the government officials.”
