Mumbai: A junior intelligence officer, Abhishay Babu, posted at Bureau of Immigration, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a building near Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Monday afternoon.
The incident came to light around 2.45pm on Monday, when the locals heard a loud thud. Upon rushing to the spot, they found Babu lying in a pool of blood on the level 4 of the parking area near the CSMIA.
Police said Babu was promoted on the job earlier this month. "Primary investigation has revealed that Babu was unwell for a few months, which could have been the trigger for his extreme step. However, we will be enquiring with the Bureau of Immigration to ascertain if he was under professional stress," said Manjunath Singe, deputy commissioner of police (Zone 8).
Meanwhile, Shashikant Mane, senior inspector of Sahar Police station said, they are in the process of registering an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and have not recovered a suicide note as yet.
