Even as the entire nation is furious over the rise in rape cases, another incident where a little girl was sexually assaulted has come to light in Mumbai. A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Malwani police for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl, who is his neighbour, on the pretext of playing.
The incident came to light after the boy took the six-year-old to his house on Sunday at around 2.45 pm. The boy allegedly sexually assaulted under the pretext of playing with her. The girl got frightened and started crying loudly and fled away from the boy’s house. She went to her mother and narrated the entire incident to her, who later reported a complaint to the police.
A police official told Mid-Day and confirmed that “It is a case of rape. The girl and the boy were neighbours.” The 13-year-old boy, is a Std VI student, was arrested and sent to children’s home in Dongri. The police registered an FIR under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 348 of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The six-year-old girl was taken for a medical check-up at Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli.
