The wait is finally over for students waiting for the special merit list of first-year junior college (FYJC) admission as the list was declared. But still some students were disappointed as out of 38,567 students, only 22,297 students have managed to secure seats.

According to Hindustan Times, the remaining 16,181 (42%) did not confirm their admissions. These students, along with those who have either cancelled their previous admissions or not taken admissions despite being allotted a college of their choice, will be in the running for seats offered through the first come, first served (FCFS) round of admissions.

Earlier, state education department has said that it will announce the vacancy list for the FCFS round on August 25. The list of vacant seats in colleges will be released across Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by the state education department. Students scoring 80% and above can pick from the vacant seats on August 27 followed by those scoring 60% and above on August 29 and those who have scored 35% and above can try to secure seats on August 31.
