Mumbai: In order to mark the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar punyathithi, the Central Railway have planned to operate extra trains for long-distance and suburban locals. On the other hand the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) have also decided to run ‘Mumbai darshan’ buses. Every year lakhs of people come to Mumbai to pay homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedakar on December 6. It is the first time the BEST will run Mumbai Darshan buses between December 4-7.
These buses will operate between Shivaji Park-Dadar-Five Gardens-Wadala-Byculla Zoo-Gateway of India-NCPA-Siddhivinayak-Worli-Shivaji Park. Ashish Chemburkar, chairman, BEST said, the buses will be running every 30 minutes for Mumbai Darshan. “Each trip will be for 3 hours or so depending on the traffic and each passenger will have to pay Rs 150,” he added.
These buses will make a halt for 10-15 minutes at these locations and the BEST authorities have already coordinated with the Traffic Police for making necessary arrangements so that it does not affect traffic movement. It shall start from 8 am till 10 pm. BEST will run 60-70 buses and will keep 10 buses as spare with Worli depot.
Meanwhile, CR has decided to run 12 suburban special trains between Dadar-Kurla/Thane/Kalyan and Kurla-Mankhurd/Vashi/Panvel sections on Dec 6 (midnight of December 5/6) for the benefit of passengers 2018. These suburban special trains will run stopping at all stations. There will be 3 specials from Nagpur to CSMT, 6 specials from CSMT / Dadar to Sewagram/Ajni/Nagpur, One special will run from Ajni to CSMT.
