Mumbai: An employee of a Kandivali-based dental clinic decamped with medicines and equipments worth Rs78 lakh with the help of his accomplices on June 16.
When the clinic’s owner discovered that the medicines and equipments were missing, he approached Kandivali police, who filed a case of robbery against unknown persons. The accused men were arrested on Sunday on the basis of technical evidences, said police.
According to the police, after a case was registered, the investigation revealed involvement of an insider in the crime. All the employees of the clinic were accounted for, except for Mohammad Jehangir Shaikh (25). The police immediately pulled out his call data records and a detailed investigation revealed that he was the main culprit.
“Shaikh’s tower location pinged between Kandivali and Mira Road at the time of incident, on the basis of which, he was arrested. He revealed the names of his five accomplices, who too were arrested later,” said Nitin Pondkule, a senior inspector of the Kandivali police station. All the accused were arrested and produced in a local court, which sent them to 5-day police custody.
Meanwhile, Kandivali police also detected a case of theft, wherein an employee, who had decamped with Rs24 lakh, which he was supposed to be given to his boss’ associate, was arrested.
