The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths, on Saturday, carried out a raid at a beach in Mahim and arrested one person for peddling drugs. The officials also intercepted 15 youth who were present in the flat and counseled them about the ill-effects of drugs.
Speaking about the operation, zonal director of Mumbai (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, said, “The NCB had received lots of complaints from Mahim residents about the drug trafficking in the area. Acting on the complaints, a team of NCB officials kept surveillance and intercepted drug peddler Wasim Mohammad Shamim Nagor from Mahim beach on Saturday night. The cops seized 101 gm of hashish from him.”
“The team also found many youngsters in the age group of 15 to 20 years at the place. They were counseled about the ill-effects of drug abuse and their parents were also informed about the situation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the peddler was selling drugs to youngsters in the area and was slowly making them addicted to the drugs. The raids began at 9 pm and lasted for three hours,” Wankhede said.
“Nagor, who stays in Santa Cruz area used to peddle drugs to youngsters in Mahim and make them addict. Now we will he expanding our efforts and campaign to other areas of the city as well where peddlers are selling drugs to youngsters," said another NCB official.
