Mumbai: Cylinder blast leaves 14 left injured in Jogeshwari chawl

Mumbai: Cylinder blast in Hanuman Chawl, Behram Baug, Jogeshwari (W) around 8.15 pm on Tuesday injured more than 14 people, which included two minors who were rushed to Trauma Care Hospital.

Out of the 14 injured, five were hospitalised under doctors observation and the other five were given medical aid in the Out Patient’s Department (OPD).

A senior doctor from Trauma Care Hospital said, all of them have sustained superficial burn injuries. “Fourteen were taken to the Jogeshwari Trauma care centre, out of which two are minor and all of them have sustained 50 per cent burn injuries,” said Dr Rajendra Bachav, medical superintendent.

According to fire officials as soon as the received a call they rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Two fire engines and one jumbo engine were sent to have control the fire. Fire was soon brought under control, but cooling work was still underway. Oshiwara police also reached the spot and handled crowd. The reason behind the blast is still not known, but investigation are carried out by police and fire department.
