A 33-year-old woman was arrested by the Manpada police for allegedly robbing the house of a police constable by pretending to be a police official herself.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the accused has been identified as Bhakti Shinde, alias Sarika Shinde. The cops have said that the accused had become acquainted with constable’s wife on Facebook. Shinde, accused, allegedly stole jewellery and cash from the constable’s wife, Vidisha Rajvardhan Wagh. Wagh after realising that she has been robbed lodged a complaint with the police.
Wagh told the leading daily, “Shinde knew a lot of high-profile people and even showed me photos of herself with them. She used to talk to a lot of leaders in Dombivali, so I thought she was a genuine policewoman. She told me she was a three-star officer and even showed me photos and an ID card.” The accused used to visit Wagh’s house, claiming to have been suspended due to personal problems. Shinde gained Wagh’s sympathy and stole valuables from her.
The cops arrested Shinde on Sunday and found that she was posing as a police official, and had a duplicate ID card. Shinde was even arrested in the past for cheating people and was married thrice.
