Two men were arrested by the Pydhonie police for allegedly killing their 22-year-old friend after a scuffle with broke out between them over a mobile phone in south Mumbai.
According to the Hindustan Times, the accused have identified as Suraj Rai (22) and Bittu Das (24). The victim was identified as Mansoor Shaikh. The incident took place on Saturday when Shaikh had gone to the residence of Rai to return Rai’s mobile phone, which he had borrowed. The victim had borrowed the phone ‘on trial’ and was going to buy it after using it. But after using the phone for a month, Shaikh refused to buy it and told Rai that he won’t buy it as the screen is damaged.
The cops have said that Shaikh was killed in a scuffle that broke out when he went to Rai’s house to return the phone. Shaikh had left his house after informing his grandmother that he was going to his friend’s house to return the borrowed mobile phone. Shaikh told his grandmother that he will be back in a few minutes. However, when he did not return for a long time, the grandmother went to look for him.
When Shaikh’s grandmother reached Rai’s locality she found him lying in a pool of blood, and with the help of locals, she rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead. After arrest, the two accused were questioned, during which they confessed that they fought with Shaikh over the mobile phone and he suffered injuries and died.
