Crimes against women are on the rise in the city. Another such incident came to light where a 35-year-old tennis coach was arrested by the Colaba police for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl tennis player at Cooperage Hall of the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA).

According to Mid-Day, the accused has been identified as Pradeep Sangwan (35). The 15-year-old girl hails from Haryana and had come to Mumbai with her mother to participate in the ongoing National School Games that started on Sunday. The incident took place on February 4 around 10.30 am, when the girl was in changing room and that is when Sangwan allegedly touched her inappropriately.

But when the girl protested, the accused told her that if she wanted to get selected she should do as he said. After the incident, the girl ran to her mother and narrated her the entire incident. The girl’s mother got furious, but when she confronted Sangwan, he allegedly twisted her arm. Later, the girl and mother went to Colaba Police station and registered a case against Sangwan. The Colaba Police have arrested Sangwan and registered a case under stringent sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The cops have now asked for CCTV footage of the area of Cooperage Hall, where the girl was allegedly molested.
