In a shocking incident, on Wednesday a 22-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Mumbai’s Andheri after a fight.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the incident happened after the couple had a fight as the man scolded her for allegedly watching movies for the whole night. The accused was identified as Chetan Chowghule. The accused was arrested by the MIDC police. The accused and his deceased wife were parents to a two-year-old. The accused, who is unemployed, told cops that they would frequently fight as his wife Arati would continuously watch videos/movies on mobile or TV. After the fights, the woman would often go to her parent’s house with their child, he alleged.

On Tuesday, the deceased allegedly asked the accused for money to meet household expenses. However, an argument sprouted between the two after the accused denied giving the money stating that he was unemployed.  While talking to the Mumbai Mirror, a police officer stated that after her fight with her husband, the deceased started watching videos on her mobile phone. While talking to the police, the accused alleged that he had asked his wife against watching movies because he was unable to sleep. Despite this, the deceased continued watching movies.

Despite the alleged disturbance, after some time he fell asleep. A police officer told the leading daily, “However when he woke up around 4 am, he saw his wife is still watching the movies on YouTube. He then got furious, took a nylon rope and strangled her in a fit of rage.” Their child was in the house when the incident took place. Chetan later realised his mistake and surrendered himself to the police. The cops have registered a case of murder against Chetan and arrested him.
