Mumbai Crime: Man creates fake Facebook account of prominent politician’s daughter after she rejects his friend request

The Shivaji Park police have arrested a man for creating and posing as a prominent politician’s daughter on Facebook. The man created a fake Facebook profile after a prominent politician’s daughter rejected his friend request. He also bragged and threatened people on the social media website.

According to Mid-Day, the accused has been identified as Rahul Sariputra who hails from Kolhapur and was arrested on February 8. Rahul Sariputra has studied BA, BCA, and was preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams. Rahul Sariputra had sent a friend request on the girl’s Facebook account in December, but the girl declined his request. This irked Rahul and after which he created a fake Facebook account in the girl’s name. After creating the account, he started chatting with people.

During these chats, he would often brag about himself as the daughter of a renowned politician, and also threatened people. The incident came to light when a worker of her father’s political party once asked the girl why she had threatened his friend. That is when the girl found out that someone was posing as her on Facebook. After this, the girl approached cops, who then registered a case against an unknown person in December. During the investigation, the cops traced the location of the account holder to Kolhapur and arrested Rahul Sariputra.
