On Sunday, the police arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping his 12-year-old cousin. According to Indian Express, the incident came to light when the girl complained of stomach-ache, after which her parents took her to the hospital for check-up. After the check-up, it was revealed that the girl was pregnant. The cops later arrested the accused from his house. The accused lives in the same neighbourhood and is the girl’s first cousin. The accused used to call the girl at his place on the pretext of giving his clothes that he would leave at her house for washing and ironing.
The cops have said that the accused used to threaten the girl that if she told anyone, he would blame the incident on her and defame her in their family. The accused used to live alone as his parents lived in their native village. The accused works in a private firm and the girl’s parents were supposed to look after the boy. The boy has been booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSCO) Act.
